Experience Old Place Cornell

Serving humanity, history, and good meals. — Morgan Runyon

Since its opening night in 1970, Old Place Cornell is a hidden gem on Mulholland that has been serving everyone from artists to hikers, to the likes of celebrities such as Orlando Bloom that might be seen one night. Its original menu served wild boar on the grill that had been hunted in Big Sur. Since then, the menu remains rustic and simple with steaks and loaded bake potatoes served in a casual outdoor atmosphere that makes you feel like you’re at a BBQ.

This place is not just known for its steaks, though. They also serve breakfast and a light lunch fare. What a lovely place to take a morning stroll around and have breakfast. I envy the neighbors of Old Place Cornell!

My suggestion is to stop by the Cornell Winery. Do a tasting and purchase a wine to complement your meal. Then go outside and grab yourself a table and order the Rib Eye. Enjoy the ambience of the mountains and the occasional peacock strolling by during your meal. It’s not your usual fine dining steakhouse experience, but it’s definitely worth the experience. If not a meal, then stop by for some wine and a cheese plate!
