Shedding The Weight: Mind, Body & Spirit – Day 17 Winning the Mind Game

The mind game consists of the tricks your mind plays on you, making you see reality according to old memories, fears, wounds, prejudices, outworn beliefs, second-hand opinions, and early conditioning. When you are aware your mind is filtering your reality based on the past, you can change it with that awareness. In fact, awareness is the change.  Our meditation today brings us into present awareness.

Winning the Mind Game

Today’s Centering Thought is: I accept where I am, here and now.
Today’s Mantra: Samprati Hum (My true self is wide awake.)

Center yourself to begin a quiet solitude of mind and spirit with the thought “I accept where I am, here and now.” Then begin to meditate by focusing on your breath and repeating the mantra: Samprati Hum. Take deep breaths and with each breathe feel your mind body and spirit open just a little more to this affirmation. Each time your mind wanders come back by repeating this mantra and hold the meaning behind it My true self is wide awake. Simply meditate for 20 minutes.

Today’s Journal Activities:

  1. Reflect on a fear or anxiety that you have had for a long time. Describe how it began, then make a note of any benefit you have gained from this negative feeling. For example, did it make you feel safer or protect you from harm?
  2. Describe any drawbacks you have experienced from this same fear or anxiety. For example, did it keep you in worry or create even more fears?
  3. Write about what you have discovered in this exercise and how you now see this fear or anxiety in a new light. This is what winning the mind game means – shining the light of awareness into your unconscious habits. You can also apply the same method to any old wounds, traumas, and problems that have persisted for years without change.
  4. Reflect further on your experience today.
