Shedding the Weight: Mind, Body and Spirit – Day 8 – Making Lightness the New You

This week’s focus is on restoration, recovery and healing. Shedding heaviness and weight requires a fusion of the intention and choices we make for ourselves. As we embrace our true self we set ourselves on the path to lasting lightness.

The burdens we carry around with us have become part of our attitudes, habits, beliefs, and behaviors, but they are not permanent. Habits are the outcome of old decisions and they can be changed only through new decisions and choices.

In today’s meditation, we discover that the most important decision we can make is to embrace the possibility of our true self. When we let higher intelligence do the work, getting rid of burdens isn’t a burden.

Making Lightness the New You

Today’s Centering Thought is: I find joy in my healing and recovery.
Today’s Mantra: Siddho Hum (I am perfect.)

Center yourself to begin a quiet solitude of mind and spirit with the thought “I find joy in my healing and recovery.” Then begin to meditate by focusing on your breath and repeating the mantra: Om Supra Niti Swaha. This mantra is an affirmation to awaken the healing power that liberates us and brings us to our natural state of perfection. With each breathe feel your mind body and spirit open just a little more to this affirmation. Each time your mind wanders come back by repeating this mantra and hold the meaning behind it I am perfect. Simply meditate for 20 minutes.

Today’s Journal Activities:

  1. Write down the ways in which you glimpsed your true self today, through moments of beauty, truth, creativity, and bliss. Include how these moments made you feel. Remind yourself that this is a reality that is always yours.
  2. Think about the moments today when you had to struggle and use effort. Now describe how these moments of struggle made you feel.
  3. As part of the healing process, how could you remove some everyday burdens you are carrying? Write down three actions you can take to lighten your load – physically, psychologically, or emotionally. For example, you could spend more time with people who lift you up and emanate positive energy.
  4. Reflect further on your experience today.

You can become your bodies ally in the processes of restoration, healing, and recovery, which are going on all the time. What is important is how to accelerate healing and recovery to restore faster than what potential damage does – staying ahead of the curb to restore the lightness to your true self.

Your mind and body are dynamically interconnected and your cells feel your thoughts. No weight is dead weight. The burdens we carry are part of attitudes, feelings and behaviors. We keep them lodged by habits of old choices. These can be reversed by bringing them into light of awareness
To make better choices, first embrace your true self. Your true self permeates in experiences of love and bliss. In those moments touch the reality that is always yours – that is your true self. Secondly, to make better choices, understand what it means to recover and be whole. Getting rid of burdens shouldn’t be a burden. Find fulfillment of some kind every day. True fulfillment isn’t selfish. You will find fulfillment in your higher self – within yourself is the most valuable kind.

It may be useful to journal every evening about your most valuable fulfillment everyday – acts and gestures that warmed your heart. Bringing lightness into life is under your control. Your true self places no block on how much fulfillment you deserve.
