Shedding the Weight: Mind, Body and Spirit – Day 11 – Healing Your Hidden Issues

All feelings are a part of us, even the feelings we wish we didn’t have and keep at bay are a part of us and affect us. In stillness we can recognize the negative feeling without being attached to them and open up to healing.

In today’s meditation, we become more aware of what’s really happening inside, including our old issues from the past. It can feel scary to acknowledge these feelings, but this can be done with knowledge and patience where these issues dissolve in the light of awareness. Today we explore our true self as luminous awareness.

Today’s Centering Thought is: I let negativity and darkness dissolve in my light.
Today’s Mantra: Aroot Perum Jothi (I bring the light of divine grace into my Being.)

Center yourself to begin a quiet solitude of mind and spirit with the thought “I let negativity and darkness dissolve in my light.” Then begin to meditate by focusing on your breath and repeating the mantra: Aroot Perum Jothi. This Invokes the divine light to fill your life and this light heals to transform all sorrow. Take deep breaths and with each breathe feel your mind body and spirit open just a little more to this affirmation. Each time your mind wanders come back by repeating this mantra and hold the meaning behind it: I bring the light of divine grace into my Being. Simply meditate for 20 minutes.

Today’s Journal Activities:

  1. Consider one personal issue you’d like to heal, such as anger or insecurity. List the ways that you were aware of this issue today.
  2. Having listed your awareness of the issue, write down how you could have reacted differently. For example, instead of getting angry and blaming someone else, you could have owned your own feelings.
  3. Reflect on the healing victories you have experienced in the past. Maybe you used to be afraid of dogs as a child until you gradually learned to be relaxed around them and enjoy their company. It doesn’t matter how small these victories may be. Write about how you have healed in the past to reinforce the belief that you can heal your present issues through awareness and the power of intention.
  4. Reflect further on your experience today.

Meditation takes us to a place of peace and calm and at the same time brings up old issues. Being comfortable with the second part requires knowledge and time. However, it doesn’t have to be scary or painful. It brings a sense of joyful renewal

If we continue to deny and ignore the emotional wounds, we sabotage ourselves. As you start meditating you start seeing that the avoidance is not helping you and you will repair yourself.
We all fear unresolved issues, but it is these issues that create the fear and attacks us from the outside. The next time you notice a negative urge – anxiety and anger, etc. Realize that this is all you. Bring awareness to those hidden places and with an act of purpose face your old wounds to watch them melt away and heal yourself.
