Marigold Muerte Cocktail for Dia De Los Muertos (Day of the Dead)

The marigold flower is often called the “herb of the sun”, representing passion and even creativity. The vibrant marigold is October’s flower and it only makes sense to portray it in a recipe this month. It is also said that marigolds symbolize cruelty, grief and jealousy, which may be why it is the most common flower associated with Dia De Los Muertos or Day of the Dead celebrations.

Although Dia De Los Muertos is on November 1st, the celebration starts with Halloween the night before, as that is how Americans tend to incorporate it. In order to make your marigold-infused simple syrup from scratch, you will need to plan for this recipe 24 hours in advance.
