La Jolla Cove and Tide Pools

I had a chance to enjoy the beaches of San Diego this summer.  One of my favorite spots in San Diego is La Jolla Cove.  It is a very small beach tucked away between sandstone cliffs that are structured from 75-million-year-old sandstone.

The beach gets kind of crowded, but the grass park above is a nice spot to enjoy the scene from and the sunset there is awesome.

Among the elite neighborhoods of La Jola are some of the most pristine beaches.  Explore the caves and visit with the seals and seagulls, but don’t miss out on the miles and miles of tide pools.  It is amazingly relaxing and peaceful there.  The area is less crowded over by shell beach and you can see small fish, crabs, spiders, anemones, etc.  It is great for the little ones to explore.  You may even decide to start a collection of sea glass while there!
