Day 28 – Pasta With Grape Sauce

A fresh pasta, it’s simplicity at its best.  I love the combination of goat cheese with grapes and pasta just completes the meal.  You have a lot of flavors in this meal, it’s both sweet and savory.

Process

Cook six ounces of spiral pasta according to the package instruction until it is al dente.  Then drain and toss the pasta with 2 ounces of goat cheese cut into small wedges, 4 ounces seedless white grapes, one bunch of coarsely shredded watercress, two chopped scallions, juice and zest of half an orange, two tablespoons of olive oil, as well as fresh salt and pepper to taste.

It is a pretty simple pasta that combines flavors that are not so likely to be presented together to create a gourmet pasta.  The grapes provide antioxidants, while your pasta gives a burst of energy, goat cheese is reported to contain more than ten times as much PEA as chocolate.  Phenylethylamine (PEA), one of the ingredients that gives chocolate its reputation as a powerful aphrodisiac, is responsible for the release of endorphins, so people who eat chocolate in response to a break up have the right idea, but they can indulge in cheese as well.  Also, like other protein-rich foods, cheese also promotes dopamine production.  It can be called a happy food.  All this in one simple dish definitely made us happy.

    1. The caprese sandwich looks delicious! For some reason when it comes to grilled cheeses though, I like the traditional american cheese on white bread with a cup of tomato soup. It reminds me of my childhood!

  1. I love pasta, I truly do. And learning to have a different twist than my usual way of preparing it is something that gets me excited. And a little over curious with the Goat cheese information too. Me and my partner loves something that tickles our relationship If you know what i mean..
