Message of the Day

In reality, time is not a fixed experience that follows the ticking of the clock. It is a fluid, changeable experience. Our bodies measure time in multiple ways depending upon the biological function in various cells and according to different biological rhythms. Our chronological age can vary dramatically from our biological or psychological age. We can change our experience of time through our beliefs, attitudes, and behaviors. In today’s meditation, we learn that the more we abide in present-moment awareness, our minds and bodies, our beliefs and behaviors, become attuned to the cycles of Nature. Life flows with the timeless rhythms of the universe.

Journal Questions

  1. “Stepping out of time” happens when you are totally absorbed in something you love. Write down three things that fit that description for you, such as meditating, walking in nature, or playing with children.
  2. Now, think about how you can make more time for the things you listed in Question 1. Choose one item and journal about how you plan to make more time for it starting today.
  3. Negative beliefs about time affect the whole mind-body system. Write down one or two positive beliefs that you can use as affirmations every day to counter this, such as, “Time never runs out,” “The timeless is here and now,” or “The present moment is filled with new possibilities.” Say these affirmations to yourself, then sit in silence for a few moments to see how your body feels afterwards. Journal about that experience.
  4. Reflect further on your experience today.
